FILM SHORT
Hey America
  • July 2007
  • 31mb Windows Media File

A short film from director Thomas Quain. Of all the film projects I've been involved with the last two years, this is one of my very favorite. It was shot over the course of a single weekend at Fitzgerald's Park in Cork city, Ireland, relying heavily on resources from St. John's College.

  • FILM SHORT
    Stocks & Shares Show
  • October, 2006
  • 33mb Windows Media File

A clip from one of my favorite student film projects. "The Stocks & Shares Show" is a dauntingly accurate portrayal of the Irish business world in the early 2000s. Written & directed by Tomas Quain.

  • TELEVISION
    Halloween Mayhem
  • October 2004
  • 22mb Windows Media File

Blake wrote and presented The Bagpipe Report television show in 2004. It resulted in many goofy wrestling situations, none moreso than this: The TBR Halloween Special, taped in front of a studio audience, with guest stars Alex Shane and Jasmine. This clip is from the fancy dress segment of the show, where Jasmine has to pick her favorite audience member from Homer Simpson, a surly Leprechaun or a member of AC DC. As things seem to spiral out of control, at one point she remarks "I can't believe this." Well, Jasmine, neither could we.

  • INTERVIEW
    "Macho Man" Randy Savage
  • June 2000
  • 7mb RealVideo Files ( 1 | 2 | 3 )

In the summer of 2000, former WWF world champion Randy Savage came to San Francisco, California, to represent Slim Jim at the X-Games. It gave Blake, then Editor-In-Chief of IGN's wrestling channel, the opportunity to head out and cut an interview with the wrestling legend in the hotel bar. Jeff Chen from IGN's multimedia department worked the shoot with several thousand dollars worth of cameras and gizmos, and the net result was a beautifully produced three-part interview, complete with added video footage of Savage's matches and special effects. The files above are compressed down to Real Video files,

  • TELEVISION
    Snowball.com Commercial
  • March 2000
  • 2.5mb Quicktime File

Back in the spring of 2000, Snowball Inc. paid for a 30-second advertisement for their series of IGN-brand entertainment websites. The premise behind the commercial was that a film crew came into the Snowball offices for a day and talked to editors from the various entertainment sites (IGN Movies, IGN Games, IGN Wrestling etc.) about various obscure and pointless topics. All of this folly was then edited down into one 30-second commercial which made no sense and featured a plastic figure gyrating his crotch into a toy horse's face among other odd visuals. Even more amusing than the company ponying up the moolah to create this epic was the fact that they spent millions playing it on MTV among other stations. Funny stuff. Don't miss out.

  • WRESTLING
    Raw Is Hart
  • May 28, 2001
  • 2mb Realvideo File

On May 28th, the Hart family was invited to meet with the McMahon family outside a courtroom setting for the first time since Owen Hart passed away during an accident on WWF television two years earlier. Not only was the family acknowledged live on the broadcast, but after the show went off the air, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit offered a tribute to the family that broke them into this business. This is a two-minute clip of the events before and after the show went off the air, produced by the WWF.
